Gates for long drives and open country

Most of what we build around Gladewater goes on acreage. Long gravel drives, entrances set well back from the county road, and properties where the gate is the first thing anyone sees and the only thing between the road and the house.

Two problems come up on nearly every one of those jobs. The first is power - running electrical several hundred feet to the road often costs more than the gate itself, which is why we install solar operators sized to the property's actual daily use. The second is the ground. Rural East Texas clay moves with the seasons, and a gate post set without allowing for it will drift out of plumb and start dragging within a year or two. We set posts for the soil we work in.

Everything is fabricated at our Tyler shop, so a wide opening, an arched top or an entrance built to match a stone column is a normal build rather than a special order.

Why Gladewater customers call us

Rural properties get forgotten by companies that would rather stay inside the city. We make the drive, we quote for free, and we build gates that are meant to sit out in the weather for twenty years. R & R Metal Works holds a 5.0 rating across 20 reviews, and Jose handles the estimates himself.

Common questions

There is no electricity at our gate. What are the options?

A solar-powered operator. A panel and battery run the gate independently, with no trenching and no electrical run to the road. We size the panel and battery to the number of cycles per day the gate will see, which is what keeps it from running low during a stretch of cloudy weather.

Our existing gate drags on the ground. Is that fixable?

Usually. Dragging is normally a hinge, a post that has shifted, or a frame that has racked - all repairable without replacing the gate. We will tell you if it has gone past the point of being worth repairing.

Do you cover properties outside Gladewater city limits?

Yes. Most of our work in this area is on rural property along the county roads rather than in town.

We also serve Tyler, Longview, Kilgore, Marshall, Lindale and Palestine.
